The music box is a fictional object that appears in Anastasia. It was a gift to Anastasia from her grandmother and was presented with a necklace that serves as its only key. It was based on a real-life music box given to Anastasia on her thirteenth birthday, but the design was different. The real one was silver, and had a ballerina on top.

The music box appeared to be made of gold and set with tiny yet precious jewels.
When it is opened by the key, however, one could see its interior and contents: a picture of a swan, and the figures of Anastasia's parents dancing to the lullaby of Once Upon A December.
